castle, Rema finds herself a key player in a massive power struggle. When
Darmik shows up, she’s not sure if she can trust him. The line between friends,
enemies, and loyalty becomes blurred. As truths are unlocked, Rema understands
that she just might be the key to finding the rightful heir and restoring peace
to the kingdom… if she can manage to stay alive long enough.
My Review: I was completely drawn to this book by it's cover as if it were calling my name just begging to be read. I wondered what surprise might be behind that cover and if I had really chose to pick it up or if by some force unknown to me it had just appeared to me. I knew one thing at this point I had to know the story behind the cover that had me in it's grasp. The Key had unlocked a magical wonderful world to me one of time gone by were girls really became princess's and king ruled the land. Make no mistake here though as I make this seem like a fairy tale I can assure you it is not. As I read I became acquainted with a spirited 17 yr old girl named Rema who wanted to set out on adventures untold and discover new places if only she could. Rema has grown up with her one and only friend Bren who has been her accomplice in many of Rema's schemes never once stopping her from trying anything that fancies her. Then as if fate intervened Rema has a chance encounter with a prince his name is Darmik and he is strong and rugged and not in total agreeance with the way his father and older brother are ruling the kingdom. As Darmik's brother the Crown Prince believes that he should have whatever it is he wants no matter what the price. When he see's that Darmik is smittened by Rema the Crown Prince decides to scheme behind his brothers back and forces Rema to become his bride using measures that will cost Rema dearly as she will in the end suffer losses untold her only hope is Darmik but she's afraid to trust him after all he is the Crown Princes brother. Could she trust him oh if only some one had a key to all of the answers and away to stop the atrocities that unfold. Is Rema the answer Darmik and the kingdom needs or is she as conniving and callus as the Crown Prince. I became completely swept away with The Key. As the story had me hoping for a happily ever after I knew there had to be some strings attached as it did not start out as once upon a time. As I said before this book is no fairy tale but it is magnificent and for sure to keep you intrigued as to what nasty scheme the King and Crown prince will come up with next. The Key is an outstanding fabulously written story that will leave you with your heart in your throat begging to know what happens next. Jennifer Anne Davis has done a superb job of writing a story that you won't want to put down and at the same time wanting to ask her for more. I truly am twitterpated with this story and hope that there is more to come as I feel that Rema has some more adventures in her yet that may or may not include Darmik. Maybe this story will find it's happily ever after, after all.
