Book Synopsis
The Darkest Days are finally upon us and the Daughters of Eve shall rise again.
Jess sacrificed herself for the people she loved but she now has to pay the consequences for her actions because something dark is coming and it is heading straight for her. She really did not think her life could get any more complicated but when another tall dark stranger walks back into her life she realises she has a decision to make. All she wants is for everyone to leave her alone and let her live the life she thought she once had but things are getting out of control fast. The love she has for Reuban can only ground her for so long and her anger is beginning to spiral out of control. If she tells him how she really feels she could lose him forever or get him killed and that is a risk she could never forgive herself for.
The Council have accepted her for what she is but has she? There is a huge possibility everyone she loves is going to die if she stays, but if she walks away she will have to leave the love of her life behind and that would rip her soul apart.
The only way out is to work with the one person she hates more than anything in this world and that was going to take a lot of self-restraint if she was going to get through this nightmare without killing him.
Reuban can see the torment within Jess and it is breaking his heart. He would do anything to ease her pain even if it meant letting her walk away, destroying him in the process. His only hope is to seek guidance from Brigate and finally understand the true meaning of Megan's Prophecy. It started with a Prophecy and it is there he will find the truth and it is a secret that could tear the Council to pieces.
A fractured alliance will be formed again with a new generation of warriors and Jess is at its centre. The war is about to begin and a destiny will finally be fulfilled!

Death & Maria…

I stood staring through the glass partition when I saw that ginger Empath look up and storm in my direction.  I rolled my eyes and sighed.  Why did I always have to receive abuse from women?  Civilisations had bowed down to me in fear and now I couldn’t even scare a stupid Empath!
“What the hell do you think you’re doin?”  She was stood in my way with her hand on her hips and it was taking all of my self-control not to move her out of the way.  Jess was obviously feeling elated because her wings were fully outstretched,
“I’M GOING TO SEE MY DAUGHTER, NOT THAT IT’S ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!” I frowned,
“And you can cut that out right now!”  And now the silly woman was pouting and tapping her foot.  This will not do at all!
“DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO I AM YOU SILLY CREATURE?” I bellowed.  That should have scared her but I watched in amazement when she looped her arm in mine and turned us around.  I found myself looking over my shoulder at Jess kissing her wolf while I was being manhandled by a woman,
“Yadda, yadda, yadda, I know exactly who you are and if you call me a stupid ginger Empath once more I’m slapping your face.  Oh and you can pack that stupid voice in as well.  It doesn’t work on me when Jess does it and it sure as hell won’t work coming from Death, so you can just stop it!”
“HOW DARE YOU SPEAK…”
“Seriously!  When was the last time you spoke normal?  I’m betting you didn’t speak to Eve like that, in fact I bet you were all hearts and flowers before you knocked her up?” she interrupted.  If she wasn’t careful I would judge her right here.  How dare she speak to me in this manner!
“HOW…”  Heavens above, she was interrupting me again!  She stopped and stood in front of me placing her hand on my arm,
“Look cut the crap!  I can feel how worried you are for Jess so be her father for once and not a ‘know it all’ celestial being.  Her voice scares the shit out of her and I’m guessing you had a hand in saving her again so please try and be normal for her.”
“LOOK…” I coughed.  I couldn’t believe a stupid ginger Empath was making me change my voice but here I was doing just that, “…she is my daughter and I couldn’t let her die so I helped her along a little.  Not that it’s any of your business might I add!” I sighed,
“The name is Maria by the way, NOT the stupid ginger Empath!  Jess is ok but she will need time to come to terms with the fact you’re here.  When Eve died it destroyed her and she’s felt alone ever since.  Deep down she doesn’t even hate you, she regrets not knowing you and so barging in there isn’t going to do you any good.  I have no idea what you’re doing here because Jess isn’t ready and you have incredibly shit timing!” she pouted,
“I am here to protect my daughter from the approaching darkness and if I go back now Evelyn will have my balls!”  I seemed to have an uncontrollable urge to talk to this woman and it was annoying.
“Excuse me, Evelyn?” she questioned looking puzzled.  Of course, she wouldn’t know Evelyn was in the mists with me,
“Yes Evelyn, my wife and Jess’ mother.  She would not be pleased if I simply ran back home without trying to help our daughter!” I scowled,
“Eve is with you?” she said astonished,
“Yes.  Has anyone told you that you’re nosey for a crossbreed?” I said raising an eyebrow,
“But she died?”
“Yes indeed she did!”  Maria was starting to try my patience,
“And you didn’t judge her?”  Her voice was sounding an octave higher probably from the shock,
“It was not my place to!”
“Because she was your wife?”
“ENOUGH WITH THE QUESTIONS!  EVELYN IS NOT YOUR CONCERN AND NEITHER IS JESS.  IF YOU DO NOT STEP OUT OF MY WAY I WILL SMITE YOU!” I bellowed shacking the light fittings.  I stood in absolute horror when the stupid ginger Empath started laughing,
“Oh...sorry…wait…can’t breathe…oh God…smite!” she snorted and I raised an eyebrow.  It was no wonder Bunny and Jess liked this woman because she was insane,
“Will you stop laughing?”  Even I was starting to smile,

“I swear if you call me a stupid ginger Empath once more…I mean it!  You know Eve was my friend and it was my job to protect her.  I’m now friends with Jess and if you think I’m gonna let you stroll in there and upset her after she’s been asleep for six weeks you really have another thing coming!  You may be a scary Archangel but you’re also a father and it’s about time you stepped up to your responsibilities.  I promise you that once she is a little more stable I will take great pleasure in introducing you but for now just let her have a little time with the man she loves, please.”

Excerpt

I ran so fast I felt one with the wind. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.  Sooner or later my mother would track me down but until then I’ll enjoy myself. As I entered the arcade I heard my name.
“Yo, Eden.”
“Eden! You escaped.”
I smiled as I saw my friends approach. “Yeah I escaped the clutches of the evil demon.”
“You shouldn't joke about that stuff, it could be real,” said Zoe innocently. Zoe was my best friend and still an innocent. Her boyfriend Mike thought he understood all. Even though they were Nephilim too, I couldn't let them learn who my father was.
“It is real, Zo. If there are angels, there are demons. You can’t have one without the other.”
“Who says?” I defended as I retrieve the air hockey puck out of the slot and place it on the table. It begins sliding around in a small circle, waiting for me to hit it.
“Says I.” Mike took the position opposite me and waited. I narrowed my eyes and glared at him. Zoe always says I do this thing with my eyes that could make every boy swoon, but I don’t believe it. How could one person’s eyes make someone swoon? As I wacked the air hockey puck, Mike seemed distracted by something, so the puck sailed straight down into my goal at his end. The electronic voice announced the score to be one nil and that seemed to break his reverie.
“Mike, what happened? You were totally out of it.” Zoe placed a hand on his bicep.
“No, I wasn't.”
“Yes, you were. You totally let Eden win.”
“It was just a lucky shot,” I said in defense. I couldn't let them think that somehow I had something to do with Mike’s off-with-the-faeries moment. Did I? It couldn't be possible. I didn't just cause Mike to space out and act as if he and I were the only ones left on earth? Did I?
“That never happens, baby.”
“Okay, maybe this turn will be better.” Mike retrieved the puck out of the slot on his side and placed it on the table, ready to hit. I stood ready, but this time I was the distracted one. I couldn't get the feeling out of my head that I had revealed one of my powers to him. My mother said to never do that. But was it even one of my traits? The air hockey puck sailed straight under me and landed in his goal. One- all.
“Oh yeah!” Mike hooted, but I didn't feel like partying anymore. I walked away from the table.
“Oh, what’s the matter, Eden, afraid of being beat?”
“No, I just don’t feel like playing anymore.”
“Oh, come on! We were right in the middle of a game!”
I walked away ignoring their pleas as the allure of the hoop game called me over. I had just pushed a token in the slot and picked up a ball, when I heard my name. But it wasn't from Mike or Zoe.
“So this is where you spend your runaway hours?” I glanced over my shoulder and saw the creep standing behind me.
“Who are you and what do you want?”
“Don’t you see the family resemblance?” he smirked.
I turned to take a good look at him, intrigued. The guy had to be about my mother’s age, maybe a little older and had the same grey- blue eyes my mother has.
“Uncle Adam?”
“In the flesh. Now lets get out of here.”
I chuckled as I turned back around and threw a ball at the highest scoring hoop. It went in. “I am not going anywhere with you.”
Adam clapped. “Good shot. But its not surprising, seeing whose blood you carry in your veins.”
“Do you mean yours and Mum’s, or…”
“Lakyn’s?” He finished for her. “Either way, you have so many abilities you are not even aware of, Eden. And some of them are quite dangerous.”
“How do you know this?”
“I was there from the moment you were born. Trust me, I know.”
I tossed another ball in, this time in a lower scoring hoop and it went in as well. “I’m still not going with you.” As I picked up a third ball and pushed it towards the hoops, it froze mid- air. I gasped and looked back at my uncle. He shrugged.
“Game over.”
As he walked away, the ball remained frozen.
“Wait, how did you do that?” I asked, glancing back and forth from the ball to him.
“If you come with me, I’ll tell you.”
“My mother sent you, didn't she?”
“She might have.”
“So what you just did, can I do that?”
“Everyone’s traits are different, but probably. If you come with me, you can find out more.”
“I can’t just leave my friends.”
“Yes, you can. You can always make new friends.”
I stopped walking and looked at my friends playing the Daytona. Mike was showing Zoe how to drive, which was really cute. And then I looked at my uncle, waiting patiently outside the mouth of the arcade by a black town car. If I stayed, I would never know what my traits would be, I would never learn how to use them. But I would be a normal teenager, going to school and hanging out at the arcade with her friends. If I went with my uncle, I would no longer be normal. I wanted both lives. But the idea of having amazing powers intrigued me most. In the end I chose door two. Looking back I regretted leaving my friends. But I knew they would never understand. I knew deep down that I was made for a higher purpose.

My Review: The Garden of Eden is a great start to a what could be a wonderful well rounded series. I was totally into the story it is a grab you by the seat of your pants pay attention kind of  book. I enjoyed the characters especially Eden and Asher. I was a bit confused by the story and I think had there been a little more back round to it there would be less confusion. Over all I completely loved the story and am looking forward to learning more about The Eden Chronicles. I can't wait to see where L.L. Hunter takes us next.

Silver Heart Review

Title-Silver Heart (novella)
Series-The Unspoken Collection #1
By- Victoria Green
Genre-New Adult Contemporary Romance

Blurb-
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when they must decide which road leads to personal happiness. For Dylan Silver, this is that moment…

For the past twenty-two-years, Dylan has been living in her parents' carefully crafted world, always putting her own dreams on hold to play the role of a dutiful daughter.

So when her best friend coaxes her into a winter getaway to a mountain cabin, she sees it as a chance to forget about the responsibilities waiting for her at home. At least for a little while.

But then her past catches up to her—in the form of world-renowned snowboarder, Sawyer Carter.

Six years ago, Dylan bid goodbye to the only boy she ever truly loved. Now he's standing right in front of her, looking sexier than ever, bringing up suppressed feelings and bittersweet memories as he dares her to be the person she has always wanted to be.

Dylan and Sawyer’s unexpected meeting is a second chance, but will a girl who doesn't believe in fate and taking risks be able to overcome her fears of losing control and finally embrace the life she desperately wants?

Only one thing is certain: after a week in Whistler, Dylan's world will never be the same.

My Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. Silver Heart is a plethora of heart catching, sink your teeth into, yummy, sexy fun! Dylan is a girl who has let her life be commandeered by her mother for way to long and needs to live the life she dreams of having. Sawyer is a guy with a past that would haunt the weak of heart yet he seems so put together and sure of himself. When he and Dylan are together it's like no one else exists. They made my heart giggle. I thought that Victoria Green did a fabulous job on this story. I think we maybe hearing more from her.

Dylan

The light peeking through the curtain of the tiny cabin squeezed through the cracks of Dylan’s eyes. Morning. He tried to roll over onto his side and realized his hand was caught. He yawned, trying to dislodge it and became conscious that both hands were trapped.
What the hell! His hands, they were tied to the bed. He glanced down. His naked body was fuckin’ tied to the bed! Nicole. Nicole was gone. Shit. What the hell happened?
He struggled to break free of the binding, but it tightened as he wrestled with it, cutting off the circulation in his hands. Where the hell is she? Steve captured her. Oh my god! He has her! How the hell did he sleep through it?
Dylan scanned the room for signs of blood, signs of a struggle. She was gone. Steve captured Nicole!  He yanked, tugging at the binding. His wallet? His wallet rested open on the dresser in front of him. What the fuck is going on? His eyes drifted to the floor. His clothes were gone. All of them. There was no sign Nicole had even been there. Was he drugged? Why didn’t he wake up?
He thrust his body to the side, trying to break the binding again, throwing his shoulder out of its socket. Ahh. Pain shot through him. He gritted his teeth. He had to find Nicole. He had to save Nicole! Despite the pain, he tried again, propelling his body over. Ouch. He eased back, trying to force his shoulder back into its socket with his body weight.
He must have been drugged. What time is it? He looked over at the digital clock, Six am. What time did we go to sleep?
Dammit! The stabbing pain in his shoulder intensified with every movement. Snap. His face contorted as the shoulder finally jammed back in place.
A shadow passed by the window. Too big to be Nicole. The figure hovered by the door, taunting him. He’s back. He tugged. He pulled. I have got to get up.
The person fidgeted with the doorknob. Someone was trying to come in. He heaved his arm forward again and fractured the wood on the bed frame. He jerked his arm forward again. He had to break free. He had to break free. © 2013 Becoming Invisible

Nicole

I couldn’t help it. I stared at him in partial disbelief. What did he see in me? What did this beautiful Roman God see in me? My hand brushed against his and his fingers played with mine, lacing our hands together, as he ran his thumb over skin.
He gazed down at me. Butterflies danced inside me, but it made no sense. I had made love to him only hours before, but still his touch, his gentle, non-sexual touch, excited me and a chill prickled my spine.
“Where is everyone?” Dylan glanced at his cell. “I can’t wait to tell them the news.” He bubbled with enthusiasm. God, he was so adorable.  The light cast a shadow on his muscular physique, still apparent in his tight shirt even though his jacket hid much of it. He truly looked like he belonged in an art museum. Only the work of a master could have chiseled every line so perfectly. His sculpted cheek bones revealed his smile as his powerful torso pulled me near.
He towered over me, so strong and intimidating, but so full of playfulness. .. ©2013 Becoming Invisible
