My Review: The brilliance of the colors from the cover is what drew my attention to the book. I knew from the cover that this story held something different something from a world totally unfamiliar to me. Yet I knew that I had to read it as if something pulled at my very core burning me from the inside out with the need to read SUNBOLT! The story starts out with a girl running its seems as though she was always running for what or from whom I did not know but running just the same. Her name is Hitomi and all though see may seem like a normal 15 year old girl she not she is special more special than even she herself would know. I connected with Hitomi in a way that I have not with other characters before I felt her heart and not in the physical sense of the word but more like I knew her heart as well as my own. As if two had become one. No I've never met Hitomi before now though I almost wish I had for I feel I missed something vital about her. She is from Karolene and with the beautiful descriptions it reminds you of the street markets of India or Istanbul. Beautiful colors surround this land in the people, scenery, and in the book itself. It doesn't take long for me to figure out that Hitomi is a girl of high intelligence and learned very quickly how to think on her feet in the spur of the moment. As the story plays out we begin to meet some of the colorful and very lively people that are part of Hitomi's world. Some will touch you and leave you smiling other will leave you wanting to punch them in the face but, they all have their place and without them this story could not be told. The plot thickens as Hitomi becomes part of a group that is to help a High profile political family escape before they are executed. The plans are made and everyone knows there spot and how the escape must go down without a hitch. There's just one problem and it is not foreseen until it is already to late. Things start happening that will made my pulse quicken and left me hanging by a thread. The group is trying desperately to hold on to their mission and in a swift movement Hitomi's world is changed never to be the same again. I wanted to yell at the book as if it could hear me. I could not change the story for it was not mine to be told. As her world changes and becomes something dark and sinister I knew I was forever in the clutches of this story named Sunbolt.

About the Author-
Intisar Khanani grew up a nomad and
world traveler. Born in Wisconsin, she has lived in five different states as
well as in Jeddah on the coast of the Red Sea. She first remembers seeing snow
on a wintry street in Zurich, Switzerland, and vaguely recollects having
breakfast with the orangutans at the Singapore Zoo when she was five.
Intisar currently resides in
Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband and two young daughters. Until recently, she
wrote grants and developed projects to address community health and infant
mortality with the Cincinnati Health Department—which was as close as she could
get to saving the world. Now she focuses her time on her two passions: raising
her family and writing fantasy.
Intisar’s latest projects include a
companion trilogy to her debut novel Thorn, featuring a new
heroine introduced in her free short story The Bone Knife
… and of course, she’s hard at work on the remaining installments of The Sunbolt Chronicles.

Thank you for such a heart-felt, wonderful review! It means something very special to an author when their characters become real to their readers (after all, Hitomi is very real to me!). Sorry for the wanting to punch characters in the face...I do feel that way sometimes too! :)
