Synopsis

Where there are roses there’s dead bodies and no one knows this better than Poppy Rae Mamadou.
Out of college and in debt, she has no choice but to take a job at her family’s P.I. firm in Seattle. When her stiff sniffing ability leads her to a notorious homicide with kinky overtones, her life quickly spins out of control. The police label her a suspect, the media can’t get enough of her, a killer wants her dead and the good looking young detective wants a piece of her. If only she wasn't such a Virgin Detective.

As the bodies pile up, it’s up to Poppy Rae to prove her innocence but who will believe her? Telling the truth never sounded so unbelievable.

My Review: What a wonderful fun book to read. The Virgin Detective was such a great mystery with a side of funny. Not at all what I was expecting! It kept me guessing right up to the end as to who had done it.
The Characters are so very well written you can't help but relate to them. Poppy is an intern at her fathers P.I. firm. Poppy however is not like most detectives she has a special gift of smell she smells roses and it leads her to dead bodies. Poppy is a total spit fire and one that has no desire to be controlled. She will keep you doubled over with laughter. Poppy's gift of smell gets her in a bit of trouble when the tables turn and she winds up the main suspect in the case. Then there is Luc the 20 something police detective who is sure that Poppy did not commit these murders but doesn't know how to prove her innocence. On top of it he thinks he is falling for her and what a mess of things that could make. As the two set out to prove Poppy's innocence and find the real killer it is a tangled mess they find themselves in. As for Poppy getting the nickname The Virgin Detective well that is a part of the story you will have to discover on your own.
The scenery was just as well written and provided me with such a vivid picture of where things were it was amazing. I've never been to Seattle but I feel as if I know where to go if I were to go and walk the same paths as Poppy. That's how vividly written the scenes were for me.
I must admit that I have never had so much fun with a mystery novel. I can't wait to read what Kat Cazanav writes next I for sure be wanting to read it. Go grab a copy of The Virgin Detective not only will it keep you guessing but it will add a bit of laughter as well along the way.
5/5
