The Ultimate Inferior Beings Review

Title: The Ultimate Inferior Beings
Author: Mark Roman
Genre: Sci-Fi/Comedy
Pages: 302

The Blurb: When jixX is appointed spaceship captain for a dangerous space mission he doesn’t regard it as a promotion. More like a computer error, given he’s a landscape architect. The error theory gains in strength when he meets the crew: a carpenter, a gynaecologist and a scientist trying to prove the existence of God. To add to jixX’s woes, there’s a stowaway on board, one of his crew is a saboteur and the ship’s computer thinks it’s a comedian. And then they meet aliens. Not technologically advanced aliens - their civilization is based on the invention of the brick - but jixX has a bad feeling about them anyway. Among them are a religious bunch who believe in The Ultimate Inferior Beings - a species that are really, really bad at everything. According to an ancient prophecy this species will, perhaps inadvertently or absent-mindedly or through some tragic mishap, bring about the end of the Universe. One alien becomes convinced that the humans are these incompetent beings. He realizes he must be the Chosen One, and that it is his Duty to wipe them out before they can trigger total annihilation. So it comes down to jixX to save Humankind ...

My Review: As I burst out laughing from the very first chapter I knew I was in for a good read. This was a great lighthearted story. The alien races described in The Ultimate Inferior Beings were very amusing and interesting to learn about. Their thought processes had me giggling in my seat for quite awhile. As I continued to read I was reminded of the movie Space Balls. I couldn't help but feel sorry for poor jixX and his dumb luck. The hilarity continued when the crew got brought in and explained why these beings were chosen. All in all this was just a laugh fest for me. I enjoyed the comedy that ran rampant throughout the story. Mark Roman did a great job of keeping me entertained while exploring outer space.

Touching Smoke Review

Title: Touching Smoke
Author: Airicka Phoenix
Genre: YA/Paranormal
Pages: 233

The Blurb: Secrets...

Fallon has one. She doesn’t know it, but it will kill her... if she’s caught.

Love...

Isaiah. Her soul mate. Made especially for her. Created especially for her. Designed to be everything she would ever need. But loving him will destroy her.

Betrayal...

Willing to die for her, kill for her, Isaiah must first save her from the monster chasing them — the man that had created them to annihilate the world.

What would you risk for love?

My Review: What a rush! Touching Smoke is one thrilling ride that you never want to stop. I opened up a book that I wish had never ended. The intensity of this story had me from the very start and ran away with my heart. The chemistry between Isaiah and Fallon seeped from the page like electric charges to my fingers. I stayed up all night reading this book as I didn't want to put it down. I am so ready for the next book in this series!
Airicka Phoenix is amazing. She definitely knows how to leave you gripping your seat with anticipation as to what awaits you with each turning of the page. All I can say is that if you don't go get a copy of this book and read it you are truly missing out on something great!

Forever Fae Review

Title: Forever Fae
Author: L.P. Dover
Genre: Fantasy/Romance
Pages: 356

The Blurb: ***Warning: This book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for Young Adults.***

He leans down, lips parted, and then our lips connect……….We didn’t know that this one kiss has FOREVER changed the Land of the Fae.
According to the Prophecy proclaimed many years ago, Princess Calista of the Summer Court is destined to change the Land of the Fae from the evil determined to destroy it. Her powers are phenomenal, and she secretly trains for battle with her handsome warrior friend, Merrick, who unbeknownst to her protects her heart as well, in hopes of keeping it for himself. At least, until the seductive Prince Ryder attends the Guardian Ceremony and instantly sends a fire burning through her veins and a connection so deep they both discover a love above anything imaginable.
No one knows how Calista is destined to change the kingdoms, but there is one that does. He not only craves Calista’s power, but her body as well, and his goal is to steal her power, make her his Dark Queen, and take over the Land of the Fae.
Will the evil succeed in claiming Calista’s soul? Or will the two men that fight for her heart save her from despair, and help her fulfill her destiny to become what she was meant to be.

My Review: OMG! I am so awe struck by this book that I may have to go read it a second or third time. I was hooked from the title onward. I have always had a love of fairies and other mystical characters of the sort and reading Forever Fae took that love to a whole new level! L.P. Dover spun a wonderful mystical land in my head that I will see for years to come. Her attention to detail in the scenery and the characters in her book are brought to life so brilliantly.

As I was introduced to the characters in  Forever Fae I immediately knew that they would find a place in my world as well as theirs. Princess Calista is an amazing fae with abilities that outshine all others. Prince Ryder, WOW! was my very first impression. He is so incredibly handsome with wits to match how could you ever want more. Then in drops this mad man of sorts the evil villain as some may say. Evil he is it oozes from his pores slowly and envelops you in such feelings of dread that you want to give into him. As you try to fight these feelings you begin to ask does good beat bad, can the bonds of love truly beat evil, Is true love all the magic one needs to destroy the evil from within? I will never tell and you must read this to find out for yourself!
5/5 and only because my rating scale does not go higher.

Under a Painted Sky Review & Interview With the Author

Title: Under a Painted Sky
Author: Jenna Roads
Genre: YA/Paranormal/Romance
Pages:207

The Blurb:
Isabella Reed is a fast-track twenty one year old from a small Florida town. She flees to the Land of Enchantment, Albuquerque, NM, where the beautiful painted skies go on forever and hold hope for a fresh start.
She meets Logan Hayes, a sexy guide who has been hired to show her all the sights of her new city. He shows her much more than that. Something Paranormal happens to Isabella that she is unaware of when touring the Petroglyphs and her life takes a downward spiral into a supernatural captivity that no one will believe except for Logan. He vows to protect her with his life after seeing for himself.

My Review: Under a Painted Sky what a fitting name for a book that literally paints the sky for you. I fell in love with the New Mexico skyline and I've never seen it. As I continued reading I was amazed at how I became so familiar with somewhere I had never been. Jenna Roads does an amazing job of taking you through this story with every word as if the scenery were right in front of you.

Isabella is a very strong character who won me over from the start and her sexy, yet ever so the gentleman, Logan Hayes, who is sure to win your heart. Under a Painted Sky gave me a jump every now and again as if something were to go bump in the night. This book has just the right mix of paranormal and romance to make it a winner in my eyes. I definitely would call this book my cup of tea!
5/5

Interview With the Author: Jenna Roads
Here's a few questions that Jenna was so wonderfully answered.  Hope you all will enjoy getting to know her.

Can you tell us about a hobby you have?
Sure, I love to take pictures of landscapes and people.
What is your number one pet peeve when writing?
Interruptions.

How many words do you write a day?
I try to write 3000 words a day.

What music do you listen to when you write?
I have eclectic tastes and truly like some of almost all music. I most often listen to mixed Pop music.

What do you like best about writing?
I like the fact that I can go anywhere in a book. Money is not an obstacle and the only obstacles are your own imagination. The possibilities are endless.

What is your favorite movie?
There are so many off the top of my head , I would say August Rush where an orphaned musical prodigy uses his gift as a clue to finding his birth parents.

Have you ever had writers block?
Only temporarily when I am figuring out the plot leaks.

Do you share your writing with anyone before it is finished?
I have a friend that I sometimes do what I call plot busting with, to make sure my plot has no holes.

What is your least favorite thing about being an author?
I would have to say editing, editing and more editing.

Where would you go if you could go anywhere?
I think I would like to go to Florence. It would make a great setting for a love story.
