Insight Freebie Book Blitz

Title: Insight
Author: Jamie Magee
Genre: Young Adult
Blitz Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Blurb:
Willow Haywood has always been trapped between the worlds of the Light and the Dark. Her waking hours are plagued by her ability to feel the emotions of those around her. No matter how inward she draws, she cannot shut out the feelings of others. Sometimes she will see images - echoes of other people and places - that she can enter to influence the emotions of people she has never met. By night, Willow experiences her only escape from this terrible insight - entering into the world of dreams. Most of these dreams are shared in blissful silence with a stunning blue-eyed boy. But every new moon she lives through something much darker: a horrific nightmare shared by another mysterious boy who is always shrouded by shadows. One night, this shadowy figure invades her dreams outside of his appointed time. In this new nightmare, Willow is marked; a mark which follows her into the waking world and sets her on a momentous path through light and darkness, through fragmented myth and half-truths, through past lives and disturbing family secrets, all in the face of the ever-dominant Zodiac. What she finds will endanger the lives of those closest to her and will force her to make a decision that will change her world forever.

The fun non boring Bio :) I'm an obsessive daydreamer. Lover of loud alternative music. Addicted to Red Bull. I love to laugh until it hurts. Fall is my favorite season. Black is my favorite 'shade.' Strong believer in the saying: there is a reason for everything, therefore I search for 'marked moments' every moment of everyday...and I find them. Life is beautiful!
Boring one.... Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she'd never been, introduce her to people she's never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

I felt a blanket of peaceful love with a sense of urgency. The night air in front of me began to move; it looked like a wave gently swaying with a current. A thin light began to emerge then Landen stepped through the wave. I felt the air leave my lungs and adrenaline rush through every part of my body as my heart violently hammered in my chest.
“Landen…” I breathed.
In the darkness, I could see his haunting blue eyes widen, we were both soaked in the emotion of disbelief, along with the fear that this wasn't real.
In that beat of my heart he’d reached my side. His hands were trembling ever so slightly as they cradled my face, and his thumbs graze the flesh of my cheekbones. He was staring at me like I was a forbidden fruit, like I was every sin in the book, desire washed over that lasting look as he leaned in and let his lips frame mine. When we melded the flesh of our lips together, his hands fell from my face and slowly waved down my body, embracing my flesh, I was doing the same to him. He was warm, he was on fire, I could hear his breaths, hear the sweet sound of our kiss, the way our clothes were moving under our touch. He was real. He was in my arms, and he was driving me wild. That first kiss was nothing compared to this, that was a dream, it was fleeting, it was something that could end at any second, this—this touch, this emotion, this pulsing of my soul was eternal.
He pressed our bodies together and held me with more strength than he had ever displayed. We both sought air more than once, but the other moved closer as soon as that gasp was taken. His warm tongue was uninhabited yet sensual as it danced with mine. I was devouring every sensation he was giving me and wanting more, so much more.
I was trembling with passion, I think he misunderstood that, he slowed our kiss, as one arm went around me and the other cradled my face. His thumb reached to my lips just as his kiss ended, he tenderly caressed the moist, swollen flesh he found there.
“I found you,” he said with the lips of an angel. His voice was deep and entrancing, those three simple words sounded like poetry as he spoke them.
His eyes danced over my image, “I love you.” he said as he leaned in and kissed me once more, this was a sweet kiss, only lips, only warm sensual lips.

 Author: Margie Orford
 Genre: Adult Fiction/Mystery & Detective

Publisher:Witness Impulse, an imprint of HarperCollins
Event Organized By: Literati Author Services, Inc.

Synopsis

When a beautiful young woman is found murdered on Cape Town’s Seapoint promenade, journalist and part-time police profiler, Dr Clare Hart is drawn into the web of a brutal serial killer. As more bodies are discovered, Clare is forced to revisit the brutal rape of her twin sister and the gang ties that bind Cape Town’s dark crime rings. Is her investigation into human trafficking linked to the murders or is the killer just playing a sick game with her? Like Clockwork is a dark and compelling crime story that will thrill fans of Deon Meyer and Tess Gerritsen.

My Review: This was my first book by author Margie Orford and I was not sure exactly what to expect. I was a little clueless as to the the fact that this book was part of an on going series. I discovered this when I realized that the two main characters Dr. Clare Hart and Detective Reidwaan Faizal have an on going relationship of sorts. I did however find the mystery to be very exciting and captivating. Make no mistake this book is not for the faint of heart mystery readers it is very dark and takes you to places I would not want to be found. Like Clockwork does touch on some very real issues that do take place in countries such as South Africa and even here in the U.S. such as young women being abducted and sold into sex slavery or porn. The violence that takes place is very realistic and totally follows through with the story being told. It's up to Dr. Hart and Detective Faizal to catch the sick perverse murderer before he/she strikes again. I liked the story and felt it was very realistic with just enough fiction to be entertaining. I do love a good mystery novel and am glad I stumbled upon The Clare Hart Mystery Series. I will have to do some searching to find out where and how the history with Hart and Faizal started but I'm up to the challenge. I would highly recommend this book and the author Margie Orford. Like Clockwork is a very well written thought out mystery that will have you guessing at every turn of the dark sinister pages.

Magic and Murder among the Dwarves Blog Tour & Giveaway

Title: Murder and Magic Among the Dwarves
Author: Erik Bundy

Genre: Paranormal Mystery
Publisher: Untold Press
Tour Host:
Lady Amber's Tours

Blurb:
Amanda is used to living a life that is less than ordinary. Haunted nightly by her late husband, she is a psychic living next door to a colony of dwarves. Despite males normally taking on the task, the colony’s females ask her to find a lost baby for them, and then hire her to tell them who strangled their midwife with a diaper and cut out her gossiping tongue.
She’s thrilled at the honor, but Amanda must learn to tame her own unruly psychic power.  The shadowy side of her gift raises a demon that attacks her, stalks her, and slashes her hand.   When she feels something live wriggle in her wound, she knows no one can fight her battle for her.  She must face her demon alone.
The town’s sheriff asks Amanda to help him solve the disappearance of a missing teenage girl.  Her involvement in this case brings a predator into her life, an enemy who allies himself with her demon.  To make matters worse, the midwife’s murderer comes after her, too.  Amanda, though, has no intention of becoming anyone’s victim.
Death is no longer her worst possible fate.

My Review: I'm not sure where to begin exactly this was such a great book to read it was funny and at a couple of points it also caused a tear or two. Amanda is a very well thought out character in this story who is about to have a demonic infestation on her hands if she isn't careful. While reading this story the song Black Magic Woman played in my head. It seemed fitting. Amanda is asked to take on three different cases at once  and as she does this she knows that she has to be able to control her psychic abilities there's just one small problem with that they are already upon her ready to reek havoc where ever they can. reading every scene in this story and seeing how it all plays out in my head was quite comical at least for me it was. Poor Amanda will she be able to control the inner demons waiting to run a muck and can she solve the cases before she herself becomes a victim? The worst of the worst maybe unleashed and it all falls in Amanda's lap could things get any worse. I for one am rooting for Amanda but the odds seem to be against her. This was an absolute great read I found it to be light and a refreshing story. Magic and Murder Among the Dwarves is one story I would truly love to hear more about. Thank you Eric Bundy for sharing your story with the rest of us!

Excerpt:

Fate didn't announce itself by rapping its hard-luck knuckles against my green cottage door. Nor did it bother to crawl in through my cranked-open bathroom window. So I gave it no more attention than I did the mountain air I breathed every day. That was my downfall, my sin. Fate might forgive greed, gluttony, or even bloodlust, but it never ignores being ignored. It punished my neglect with death and a demon. It yoked guilt like a leprous shadow to my heels.
Fate's wake up call came to me one cool spring night after I had lived on Crying Woman Lane for about a year. I was in bed, just skirting along the edge of sleep, when a guttural, female voice called, "Amanda," through my window screen.
My bedside clock, instead of displaying numbers, looked back at me with a luminous green eye. Startled, I watched it, waiting to see if this obvious sign would make its meaning known. The eye winked, and the clock became normal again with the numbers 11:02 brightly displayed. The numbers added up to four, the number of wholeness. It didn't describe me at the moment.
Fully awake, I rose up on one elbow, tucked a tuft of hair behind my right ear, and listened. Beyond my open window, the tidal racket of katydids rose and fell with the shrill anguish of self-centered insects braying for sex. I stayed quiet, hoping the female would go away but knowing I shouldn't let her leave. The sign indicated this meeting was important. On the other hand, my body felt raw and jangled with a restless need for sleep. She could come back.
A second time she called my name from the tangle of darkness and moonlight in the woods. At least it was not a ghost's voice. It had breath in it. The throaty intonation, though, was not quite human, the vowels veined in iron, the consonants ancient and startling.
"Not tonight," I yelled back.
"Now," the female insisted.
I punched my pillow. My eyes felt dry as dust, gritty, and probably looked as though threaded with varicose veins. One consolation was that they paid in gold, and come flood or parching drought, I was going to make them pay me a bucketful of nuggets this time.
Peevish as a cat sprayed with a garden hose, I delayed getting up and wished mouth sores on the jolly, jowly realtor who had sold me this cottage a year before.
Handing me two sets of door keys, he had said, "There's one other little thing you might want to know." His blue eyes twinkled. "Most of your neighbors are a bit peculiar. They live in a colony and only come above ground after dark."
I knew about dwarves, of course. Everybody did, but I hadn't known my newly bought property bordered the treaty land of one of their colonies. The realtor had lied by saying nothing. He had conned me, a young widow, and deserved the ulcerated mouth I wished on him now.
When the realtor saw his late disclosure angered but didn't alarm me, he threw his head back and yodeled laughter at a ceiling fan.
"They're allergic to sunlight, see." His eyes widened with mock delight. "It paralyzes them, turns them into granite statues." He held up an open hand. "Scout's honor, petrifaction is their preferred method of suicide. It's painless, see. It's clean and saves their families the cost of a funeral pyre."
He patted my arm as if to let me know I didn't need to thank him for the favor of his settling me near these considerate suicides. Not amused, I flinched away from his presumptive familiarity. Sourwood was a valley village isolated by mountains, a place where everyone bumped into everyone else often. He and I would meet again.
"Don't expect a Christmas card from me," I told him and punched his forearm.
All the same, the realtor had been wrong, and I took childish satisfaction in that. Tall Tristan, he with the precious green eyes, and my closest human neighbor, had put the lie to that tale. The suicidal dwarves didn't turn themselves into fossils to save their heirs the price of a funeral pyre. No, they did it for revenge.
They bequeathed a monumental problem to their daughters and sons. Where do you put Uncle Steen after he has become a statue of himself? The irascible Uncle Steens of the colony usually committed suicide because they felt unwanted and ignored. On their granite faces after death were the smirks of those who knew they now had their kinfolks' full attention, even if only for long enough to find permanent storage for them.
So why would a female dwarf come calling on me? Did she want to use my psychic power, my oddsense, to find another killer? I had already solved two dwarf murders for Brialdur, the colony's sheriff. He had been considerate enough, though, to come calling just after sunset while I was still awake.
A chesty cough for attention outside curtailed my reverie of resentment. I was not being neighborly. I glanced at the clock and saw only the time, no eye or other sign. Oh well, you couldn't ignore a dwarf any more than you could the constant flush of a stuck toilet.
I slipped out of my canopied bed and slid into a fuzzy white robe that fit my body like a sock. The dwarf outside knew I had gotten out of bed. She could hear a spider tickle along its web toward a struggling fly.
I baby-stepped through my dark living-room so as not to stub my toes against furniture, wrenched open the cottage's reluctant front door, and strutted outside onto the moonlit porch. There I knuckled my fists into my hips and stood balanced on both feet, my back straight, posed as if to wrestle any half-quart boogeyman that dared show up. I was a modern young woman, fearless and capable (with mace spray in my robe's right pocket), and I didn't care who knew it. Attitude was everything when dealing with dwarves.

Synopsis –
Can she overcome her consuming desire for him? Can he make her comfortable with the other C-word…commitment?

Marley Mason is dreading the arrival of the new business consultant. After all, this man will most likely outsource her job to China. The last thing she would expect is a case of mistaken identity, leading to false accusations of kidnapping when she attempts to pick up the wrong man at the airport, or worse…that she would have such a visceral reaction to the right man.

Rick Randy is super sexy, scandalously flirty, and perfect masturbation material, but a relationship is out of the question. Rick is contracted on a temporary basis to fix Marley’s ailing company, and then pull out, although as he expresses to Marley, pulling out is difficult for him, in more ways than one! Marley’s feelings range from utter confusion to intense contemplation as Rick charms his way into her life. All of those C-words Marley can control, but it’s the other C-word she fears—commitment.
Blog Review from Stacia at Three Girls and a Book Obsession
You had me at "R U Randy"!! <3 class="kix-line-break" data-blogger-escaped-br="">I swear I literally laughed out loud throughout this book- between the banter with Marley and her sisters, to her smart ass comments, to most conversations between her and Rick I, I don't know that a book has ever been this comical.
Aside from that, it was also emotional, addicting, and sexy as hell.
I hope to read more from this author :)

This is book two in the In Other Words series.

Damien Wolfe is ferociously sexy. Emmie Mason is fastidiously stubborn. When fate brings them together, they are both challenged by the other F-word…forever.

Fashionable forty-four-year-old, Emmie Mason is content with her fastidious life. She has everything she needs in her loving family and friends. Her eldest daughter, Marley, has married the man of her dreams, and she has a new grandchild. What more could a woman ask for?

She isn’t prepared for fate to slap her in the face in the form of a bridal bouquet. Or worse, to run into the fantasy-inducing, eye-catching, panty-dropping, swoon-worthy man she’s been thinking about for over a year, even though they only danced together once.

As it turns out, thirty-year-old real estate mogul Damien Wolfe has been thinking about her too. Damien’s flirty, funny and forthright personality challenges Emmie and tilts her world. But it’s his kind soul and compassionate demeanor that really frighten her.

He’s easy to fall for, but how could she ever recover if she risked her heart to him? Can they both overcome their fears and commit to that other F-word…Forever?
Blog Review –
Once in a while I come across a book that has me fist pumping excited so much that before it’s even released I’m telling all my friend they HAVE to read it. The Other F-Word is one of those books. I LOVED IT! From the characters to the story line, my brain was checking marking every box of what I require in a book. Great characters – Check. Witty dialog – Check. Sweet romance – check. Build up to a one heck of a HEA – Check. Great sex scenes – CHECK!!! Let me extrapolate.

Emmie and her family. Filled with vibrancy, sibling rivalry and quirky 'relatives' (blood or not) Emmie's family felt as real as they come. These are people I could and would want to hang out with. In case you missed it, there are a LOT of characters. Each and every one of have an added importance to the story-line.

Emmie/Jessie and Damien - Cougar and Wolf. Her double name is a funny story in itself. Serious, what wasn’t there to love of these two interacting together. Damien certainly wasn’t what I was expecting. Nowadays, when a book has a ‘rich’ guy in, I’m thinking he’s going to come off all Alpha and dominate the woman. Not so here. Instead I found Damien to be warm, caring and very down to earth. The teasing as friends leading to lover felt so natural. Nothing seemed rushed in this perfectly paced book. The combination of playful and serious moments had me sighing and giggling thorough the whole book. I’m thinking back now about certain parts and smiling all over again.

I truly did expect a different kind of book from the title The Other F-Word. Something nasty and wicked. Instead, I discovered a wonderful book that had me laughing, crying and a family that I would love to be adopted into. If you’re ready to take a break from all the YA and NA books that have flooded the book market, then read The Other F-Word by M.K. Schiller. You most certainly will not be disappointed.

Dish - This is the best book I have read this year.

I am a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. I have a full time life and two busy teenagers, but in the dark of night, I sit by the warm glow of my computer monitor, and attempt to conjure up passionate heartwarming stories with plenty of humor.
I started imagining stories in my head at a very young age. In fact, I got so good at it that friends asked me to create plots featuring them as the heroine and the object of their affection as the hero. We'd spend hours on the phone while I came up with a series of unrealistic, yet tender events, which led to a satisfying conclusion. You've heard of fan fiction... this was friend fiction.
Even with that, it took many years to realize I could produce an actual full-length book that readers would enjoy. I try to make my stories humorous, realistic, with flawed but redeeming characters. I hope you enjoy my stories and always find The Happily Ever After in every endeavor.

“Wasn’t it an amazing night?” “Not yet, but I think it could be,” a deep, gravelly voice answered, causing my throat to go dry despite the copious amounts of liquor I’d consumed. Shit. This was a huge hotel with multiple functions. Why hadn’t I checked before hopping into the car like I owned it? “I’m in the wrong limo,” I said, scooting toward the door. He clasped my arm. “Or maybe you’re in the right one.” My flesh broke out into goosebumps from the contact of his skin against mine. What was going on? This was the reaction of a shy school girl, not a confident woman like myself. “I’m sorry. I have to go.” “Wait.” There was a command in that voice that I didn’t question. I halted right away. “I believe this is yours,” he said, handing me the bouquet. I cursed the flowers because their sweet scent masked his masculine, intoxicating one. “Yes, thank you.” “Tell me I’m not too late.” “I don’t follow.”“Are you the bride or did you catch this?” “Neither. It sort of slapped me in the face.” He chuckled—a deep and hearty laugh. “Maybe it’s fate’s way of telling you something.” “Or maybe I just have bad reflexes,” I said, realizing my ragged breathing and shaky hands gave away my feelings. I pulled the door handle several times. It wouldn’t release. Then I heard the click. “I’ll let you escape, if that’s what you want.” I almost toppled out of the door, but managed to catch myself. The overhead lights came on and I paused, much longer than acceptable, drinking in the sight of him. His deep voice turned me on, but his face was the stuff of orgasmic fantasies. He looked familiar, like maybe he’d already trespassed into my dreams, although I couldn’t place him. He nodded, looking completely composed in a dark, tailored suit and with a wry smile. He had all the ingredients for a delicious recipe—Ashton Kutcher’s sultry lips, Robert Pattison’s thick eyebrows, Mario Lopez’s jet black hair and Jason Statham’s broad chest. His hazel eyes were all his own though. They were so unique, the color falling somewhere between golden sun and forest floor. I was grateful for the bouquet for the first time that night, because I needed it to fan myself. “Good bye,” I said. “Or maybe it’s hello…again,” he whispered, before I closed the door. Again?
