Long Road Full Speed Ahead Review and Promo Release

Title: Long Road Full Speed Ahead
Author: Emily Walker
Genre: Adult Fiction/Drama
Pages: 252

The Blurb:  Grace finds herself with a toxic friend and a brand new hobby
when she discovers meth. She had a promising future before Grayson
came into the picture. A wolf in sheep's clothing he soon shows his
true colors and they are painted with black and blue. The drugs cause
more problems than they fix, but lost in the intoxicating world of
numbness she must find herself through abuse, addiction, and abortion.
Will she let the drugs take her out of the world, and be forever numb,
or will an unlikely love pull her out and make her feel again?

My Review: Wow powerful and gripping! This is one book that even though it is not a true story it has all the elements for being able to relate to some thing in the story. Long Road Full Speed Ahead  reaches out and grabs a hold of and takes you on one heck of a wild ride. Emily Walker pulls you into this book and makes you feel as though you are one with the book.
The moment you meet Grace you feel connected to her in someway you can relate to her life.As you go through Grace's life of drugs, abusive relationships, and alcohol induced reality you start wondering how does she continue down this path. I found myself wanting to fight for her, cry out at her to wake up and see the dangerous void she was pulling herself through. This was a very powerful and riveting story for me that hit home a little to close. I as mom of two daughters about the same age just wanted to go hold them and plead with them to not to follow along this same path. As I realized how easily it could happen. I can honestly say that Long Road Full Speed Ahead completely touched my heart I was so moved by this story that I can only say that I hope there might be a second book. I will not forget this story anytime soon.

Kingdom of The Snark Quest for the Sword Review

Title: Kingdom of the Snark the Quest for the Sword
Author: Melanie Hatfield
Genre: Fantasy
Pages: 267

The Blurb: Renee the Righteous is a young Quester who must find the long-lost Sword of Power to save her people. When at last she thinks her quest for the sword is at an end, she discovers a catch: it takes two people to claim the blade, not one, so she needs a Questing Partner for help. Too bad Renee never bothered to make any friends on her journey, and she has to put her trust in a stranger. She thinks she has found the perfect Questing Partner in Guy Smokes, a hapless Assistant Barkeep always willing to help anyone with heaving bosoms. However, Guy might just change his mind after they are attacked by lustful nun assassins and lethal men in green cloaks. Will Renee be able to claim the Sword of Power, or will she and her Questing Partner be slain instead?

Journey to a land where men are women, women are men and unicorns are jerks in "Kingdom of the Snark: The Quest for the Sword."

My Review: As I started out on the journey to read this story it struck me that I had no idea what a snark was I had to know if I was to fully understand the story, right? Well not exactly as I started reading into the prologue it suddenly hit me I had known what a snark was just not in the context I had perceived it to be in the title. I did eventually discover the true snark and went about finishing the story. Kingdom of the Snark is an interesting story that left me chuckling from time to time. I even found it to be quite insightful to matters of the heart and true friendship.  The main character Renee has a lot to learn as her name is truly right for her Renee the Righteous. She at time left me so mad I could punch her in the face and other times I was cheering her on. Renee is the character that I couldn't love nor hate. As other characters were brought in I learned that there was a heart in Renee if only she was not so sure everyone was out to do her wrong. Guy was the character I had the most heart for as he went along with everything sometimes with out question as he was a true friend indeed. There are many battles to fight and hills to climb before you reach the ending to this book none of which left me bored or unable to finish reading. I will say that the end left me a little perplexed and wanting more but that is for you to wonder about as you take your own journey through the Kingdom of the Snark!

Mourning Cloak Review and Promo

Title: Mourning Cloak
Author: Rabia Gale
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy Novella
Pages: 68

The Blurb: Kato Vorsok is a man deserted by his god. A failed hero living in exile, he wants nothing to do with his old life.

Until the night he encounters a wounded mourning cloak—a demon that can walk through walls, dissolve into mist, and spear a man’s heart with a fingernail.

She calls him by name. She knows his past. She needs his help.

And she is his key to redemption.

My Review: Mourning Cloak is a very poetically written story. I fell in love with Rabia Gale's writing style right away. This story was not very long but, it packed a big punch. It was a very emotional moving piece of literature that left me wanting for nothing. Mourning Cloak was a very fulfilling story with characters that moved you from one realm to another without you even realizing you had left. This is one novella that I am sure not to forget anytime soon. This is a very well thought out piece that lifts your soul if only briefly it is still lifted.

About the Author: Rabia Gale

I break fairy tales and fuse fantasy and science fiction. I love to write about flawed heroes who never give up, transformation and redemption, and things from outer space. In my spare time I read, doodle, eat chocolate, avoid housework, and homeschool my three children.
A native of Pakistan, I grew up in hot, humid Karachi. I then spent almost a decade in Northern New England where I learned to love fall, tolerate snow, and be snobbish about maple syrup and sweet corn. I now live in Northern Virginia.

Allusive Aftershock Review & Giveaway

Title: Allusive Aftershock
Author: Susan Griscom
Genre: YA/New Adult/Romance
Pages: 280

The Blurb: What happens when a major earthquake changes life as you know it and the boy you thought you hated ends up saving you? Three times!

Courtland Reese is the guy everyone hates and makes fun of because … well, he is weird. He communicates with animals. Strange or interesting, seventeen-year-old Adela Castielle can’t quite figure out, but when he saves her from being trampled by her own horse, she begins to understand him a little better and wants to learn more about him.

But, Max—her best friend/dream guy/someday-to-be-her-husband-only-he-doesn’t-know-it-yet—hates Courtland with a passion. Adela wants to know why, except neither boy is talking.

When Max leaves her stranded in his parents' wine cave with his worst enemy, Courtland, after what the experts are calling a “megathrust” earthquake, Adela starts to question her loyalty to Max as steamy kisses in a dark damp cellar only fuel her emotions with more conflict.

But does she really have time to worry about that when fire, destruction and mayhem surround her?

My Review: What an amazing story! I loved every moment I spent reading Allusive Aftershock! I must say that this book is wonderful it is everything you would want it to be and more. Allusive Aftershock is an amazing book with such a gripping story of life itself. It was such a realistic story I found myself crying laughing and even yelling at the guys in this book. The realism of the story just blew me away at times I was so into the book that it felt as though this tragedy had really taken place and I was watching a news report on it. The characters are so strong and likable you grow so attached to them and it's as though they become a part of you. Adela is a strong beautiful young woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Max comes off as the cocky know it all when deep down he just needs to know that he has something real. Courtland is a strong willed guy with a huge chip on his shoulder and for good reason but when he finally breaks down the walls and lets people see who he really is it changes how he is perceived entirely.
I was just totally blown away by the story in Allusive Aftershock it was so detailed every scene was described so well yet left just enough for your mind to picture it and let the imagination flow to make the story your own. I have to say that this book is definitely on my list of top ten books I have read so far this year. I will for sure be making Susan Griscom one of my favorite authors. I will not give away anymore of the story but, I will say this if you haven't read this book yet you need to make this one a must read on your list!
