Insurmountable Cover Reveal

Title: Insurmountable
Author: TE White
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Hosted by:  Lady Amber's Tours

Insurmountable Book Blurb

This isn't some happy love story. If you want that, try something else. No, I own this nightmare and would have never guessed it could have happened to me.
My life is painstakingly puzzled out. And if I have to admit it, I fall for Red the first time I see her. In fact, she is the first of many things for me and maybe my last. She is the reflection of my happiness and the beginning to my end. She is the stain that covers my heart in the color of her blood-red hair.
Thoughts of her consume me and continue to bombard my mind like ricochet gunfire. So what can possibly go wrong, you wonder? A humorous chuckle escapes me, in case you didn't hear it. Yeah, I can tell you, but you will judge me unfairly. This you need to hear from the beginning, so you know all the facts and feel what I felt. Maybe even sympathize and not give me your scorn. Then maybe you can possibly… possibly comprehend the enormity of my crossroads.
You have to know I never planned or meant for any of this. It isn't my fault. It’s someone else’s sins that have efficiently destroyed my life in one fell swoop. My name?
My name is Tade Astor and happiness for me is insurmountable.
*Warning – this book contains explicit sexual situations and may not be suited for everyone.

Excerpt #1
Gavin asked, “Who’s the redhead you've been staring at all night?
My eyes shifted from the captivating creature back to my best mate who sported a smirk having caught me watching her. She was stunning with hair almost the same color as her strawberry colored lips, which contrasting sharply with her porcelain skin. Stupefied with lust, I was mesmerized by her barely revealed yet Venus Flytrap cleavage, intoxicating to look at but deadly to the heart.
“I don’t know her,” I said simply.
In the nearly four years I’d spent at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a small private honors college on a stretch of remote eastern shore, I’d never seen her before. And I didn't get the vibe she was local. According to Gavin, some high schools were larger in student population than our school. So it was odd our paths hadn't crossed and I knew I would remember a face like hers.
“Why don’t you go talk to her before she thinks you’re some creepy stalker or you can take on Cruella for the night?” He laughed to himself at his joke about the girl who just passed us.
I tipped the beer I’d been nursing all night to my lips and took a long swallow. “Mind your business Gav.”
He chuckled. “No way some chick has you caught all up and you haven’t even said one word to her. This is priceless. In three and a half years, no one had you this wound up.”
I might have been coiled tight because my pants were uncomfortably tight. Any more pressure and I might just jizz. It had been too long since I’d gotten laid and I didn't have difficulty getting any. That wasn't the problem at all. I was just particular and choosy. It was important to maintain a low profile, as a Senator’s son. Tonight, the redhead in question was the reason I was all worked up. The trouble was she didn't appear the type for a one night shag. And that was all I had to offer. Yet, I found myself walking in her direction.

Excerpt #2
A riptide of emotions clamped down on my throat rendering me unable to speak. I wanted to reach for Reagan’s hand before I let my own fall away. Stunned, I’d been unable to do anything but stare at the mouths that had continued to speak. However, the ringing in my ear prevented me from hearing a coherent word.
A single ember burned a chasm down my cheek. The blazing hot tear was as unfamiliar as it was appropriate given the situation. My world had burned to ash with the things said and not said in that room.
I felt like a foreigner while the walls moved in on me like a house of card ready to fall. Claustrophobia had set in and finally I faced the woman behind me.
“Don’t,” I said, watching Reagan’s horror. She gazed at me like I was a monster. The stranger reflected in her eyes wasn't me. “Please.” It was almost pathetic how I pleaded. How the mighty had fallen. I felt their pity and scorned them for it.
One woman had made me weak and I hated it and didn't care all at the same time. She was it for me. If somehow they succeeded in poisoning her with their blasphemy, I would live my life a lonely and broken man. No way could I survive without her.

Young Adult Author, Emerald Barnes, is releasing her latest novel, Entertaining Angels, today. It's a Young Adult Christian romance that faces the issues of self-esteem and weight in teens. It's a story that will hopefully grab the attention of girls - and boys alike - and help them understand that no matter what they are beautiful.
EntertainingAngels

About Entertaining Angels

"I've read many books that tackle the issue of spiritual warfare, but I especially loved this one. Mads was alive and real and jumped off the page! Her character is so strong, she needed strong characters to balance her, and Barnes certainly provided that in the characters of Chase and Zach." - Author Precarious Yates
"This story is beautiful and so profound." - Author Sylvia Stein
"I would recommend Entertaining Angels as a graceful stepping stone to self-acceptance and self-love." - Author Christine Cunningham
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Madison Andrews can’t face her reflection in the mirror. All she sees is a big, fat nobody. Yet, deep inside she longs for something more, something that’s not skin deep.
Along comes Zach, the new guy in school. He’s smoking hot and totally out of her league. She somehow catches his eye, and he makes her feel beautiful for once. But just as she gets close to Zach, her nerdy best friend, Chase, won’t let Madison doubt her true beauty, no matter how many meals she skips. Even as Madison begins to realize that she is more than what she thinks, darker forces are at work, darker than the lies and mocking from her peers, stopping her from amounting to her full potential. Can Madison find true happiness in her own skin?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Word from the Author

Entertaining Angels is near and dear to my heart. Essentially, it's my story. I have struggled with my weight issues for many years, and I remember clearly the very first day I fell victim to the word fat I am more than that label. I am a Child of God, and He wanted me to see that. Making a long story short here, I have began to realize that although I am overweight, it's not who I am. I am so much more, and He wanted me to share that story with everyone else, especially young adults and woman who need to be reminded just how beautiful they are. If you do buy Entertaining Angels, I hope that it shows you just how beautiful, or handsome if you're a guy, you are.

Giveaway Time!

Enter to win this autographed (by Emerald) tote bag with the Bible Verse Psalm 91:11 on it, and this notebook that says "God Makes Beautiful Things." (US Only please. If you're international, Emerald will send you an e-book and choose another winner.)

Impulsion Blog Tour

Title: Impulsion
Author: Jamie Magee
Genre: New Adult

Hosted by: Lady Amber's Tours

BLURB:
With a glance Wyatt Doran stole Harley Tatum’s heart. With each summer that passed, touch by touch, they robbed each other’s innocence, birthing a love that was so deep that it scorched within. Without warning, they were ripped from the clutches of each other, placed in lives that were worlds apart. Only to cross paths after a freak accident where Harley’s horse rig was flipped. An accident that Wyatt Doran, from fire station 32, responded.
The tension was immediate, the emotions were raw. One breath told them they were not the same as before, one touch…changed their world.

My Review: Impulsion is the book I have been waiting for! I wanted a real life story with real felt to your very core love story that doesn't feel or read like a fairy tale where everyone lives happily ever after and every character is perfect. I got all of that and so very much more! Wyatt Doran is what I would call a tough and tumble kind of guy who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go and get it or so it would seem. Then there is Harley and this girl loves her horses. Horses are her life they spark her soul like nothing ever has until Wyatt! When these two come together it is like a wild fire spreads through a forest it's hot. it scorches, and it most definitely burns! Then life comes a calling and Wyatt and Harley's lives change direction and takes each one down a different path. I cried it broke my heart but, that is life and it doesn't always work out the way we plan. Sometime though fate intervenes and paths cross for better or worse and this time is worse. As a freak accident puts Wyatt and Harley right in the middle of fates path. Is there still that wild passion and burn for a love so true still there. Can they get back what they once had or have they just gone so far in different directions to rekindle that flame? I have to say that this book pulled me through an emotional whirlwind I laughed, cried, fell in love, and wanted to kick the living crap out of some people. I loved every last minute of it! Jamie Magee took me from being down and out and almost all but given up on reading to sparking my passion for books with this story. Impulsion was everything I needed and then some. This is my first time reading a book by Jamie Magee but, I can promise you it won't be my last!
5/5

Excerpt:

His fingertips slowly moved down her face, down her neck. He noticed how all the tension in her body drifted away, how her eyes slowly closed, the long, deep breaths that were causing her chest to rise and fall.
“The sight of you brought it all back, past and present colliding with a magnitude that is so great…that I have no choice but to stop and realize that the only thing holding us back this go ‘round is us.”
He reached his arm around her waist and pulled her body against his, causing her eyes to fly open, those breaths to come even faster. “And Harley, I’m going to fight like hell for you. And as soon as I make you mine again, I will die before I ever let anyone take you from me again.” His hand rose to her face, his thumb grazed her flesh, his eyes dipped to her lips, then met her gaze once more. “You’re the only woman I have ever loved. That I ever will love.”

All at once, they both moved forward, their lips connecting as if they were molded from one source, a well-practiced dance of flesh, the perfect rhythm, teasing brushes of tongues that knew just when to fall into a deeper kiss, a kiss that was so devouring that all thought, all reason vanished. The impulse of the heart, that deep passion that lies dormant within erupted to a euphoria that made it impossible to fathom life outside of that very instant.

Boring one....
Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she'd never been, introduce her to people she's never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

Book Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sItnX6JkwrQ&sns=em
Excerpt:

In her peripheral vision, Samantha thought she saw something in the distance, coming up fast. She broke into a jog, the plasticky tapping of her cheap work shoes filling the air as they hit the cobblestones. She looked back and saw a tall shadow of a murky figure gliding toward her on the buildings’ brick walls. The shadow seemed to be alive, not naturally conforming to the bends and corners of the buildings.
Samantha took off into a full sprint toward the gate, calling out to whoever would hear her. But no one heard her pleas, and the gate was still far, far away. It seemed like the figure was right upon her, and Samantha knew she had to take a life-or-death stand. She turned and swung wildly with her junky purse, but no one was there. She found no relief in that, and immediately started running again, digging through her purse simultaneously. She found her phone and tried to dial 911 as she ran, but her bouncing steps and trembling hand kept making her misdial.
Samantha hurled herself to the gate. She made a judgment call to hide in the guard shack. It hadn't been used in decades and was more ornamental than functional. Time and weather had worn down its lock, making it easy for Samantha to enter. She dropped down, afraid even to breathe for the noise it might make. She huddled deep in a corner, keeping the door closed with her foot.
The doorknob rattled. Samantha covered her mouth to keep from screaming. Then suddenly a loud thud shook the door. It was followed by a series of scratches and pounding overlaid by Samantha’s manic screams. Then, all at once, everything was silent outside the guard-shack door.
Samantha quieted down. Her eyes, mascara dripping and running from them, stayed on the door. Not seeing anything, she slowly leaned forward. The glass window behind her crashed in, and the figure’s hand grabbed the back of her shirt, then the nape of her neck. It yanked her back, slamming her against a small, metal shelf populated with safety manuals from the 1970s. They fell on Samantha like blocks of colored snow.
She threw them off and escaped the shack, running as fast as she could toward her dorm, which was on the other side of campus. Breathless, she came upon the student counseling services building. She could vaguely see Bao through the window. He was on the first floor, and his back was turned to her.
Samantha was about to scream bloody murder when the figure’s massive arm clothes lined her neck, collapsing her trachea. She was laid out on her back, but could still see Boa as he turned in her direction. He looked like he was already scared of something. Samantha kicked at the air, but kept missing the figure that loomed over her.
At the window, Bao just missed the figure dragging Samantha into the darkness. By then she was suffocating from her collapsed trachea, but death was too slow in coming.
Even though the figure had been instructed not to feed, it was just too hungry. It took near-erotic pleasure in snapping Samantha’s bones in its mammoth hands—first pulverizing her legs, then her arms, and finishing with her back. Before the merciful unconsciousness of death arrived, Samantha’s bleary eyes saw the killer’s canines growing longer as its face came down upon her.
And that face belonged to Grace....

When violinists around the world mysteriously vanish, 16-year-old Emma Braun takes notice.  But when her beloved violin teacher disappears… Emma takes charge. With Sherlock Holmes fanatic, not to mention gorgeous Corey Fletcher, Emma discovers a parallel world ruled by an ex-violinist turned evil sorceress who wants to rule the music world on her own terms.

But why are only men violinists captured and not women? What is the connection between Emma's family, the sorceress, and the infamous Niccolò Paganini?

Emma must unravel the mystery in order to save her teacher from the fatal destiny that awaits him.  And undo the curse that torments her family—before evil wins and she becomes the next luthier's apprentice…

My Review: The Luthier's Apprentice for me was a fun quirky read with so many different elements to the story. Emma (the main character) is a wonderful girl who had a need for knowing the answers to everything. She is a Sherlock Holmes addict and takes sleuthing very seriously. Besides her sleuthing abilities Emma is a violinist in study. That is until her instructor goes missing. Then everything is sent spinning. Emma's world begins to fill with questions and not enough answers. As Emma sets out to find these answers she discovers sometime things are not always as they seem and that the world holds many secrets. I found this book to be quite enjoyable and a quick read. I was enveloped into the story wanting to know the answers to my questions as badly as Emma wanted the answers as well. I did find that this story was very full of detail leaving just enough to the readers imagination though to keep one entertained. The Luthier's Apprentice is a complete gem of a story and I am hoping there will be more like it written by Mayra Calvani to come!
